Instructions to Follow
Before you start make sure to arrange all your cloths and hangers at proper place which usually consumes most of the time especially when ironing cloths in a batch and also make sure that your cloths are all clean, washed and stain free before you iron them as stains can get very tough to remove once they ironed.Prepare the Iron
The first thing you need to do is to make sure your Iron is clean by thoroughly washing it with water or vinegar and then hitting it to the proper temperature (with no water in it) based on the fabric you are going to iron.Preparing the shirt to Iron
Flatten out the front part of your shirt on the squared side of the ironing table and spray it with water and then simply press it out with hot iron and similarly do for the other end and then the backside of your shirt while twisting the shoulder portion a bit to iron the shoulder and Yolk part of the shirt as well.
Next for the collars flatten them out inwards and spray it with water and then press it with iron and then make a double fold along the usual collar fold and then again spray it with water followed by ironing in the middle.
Coming to cuffs iron them on the inside rather than on the outside and finally iron the sleeves while making sure to properly damp them with water before pressing it with hot iron.Adding the finishing touch to the Ironed Shirt
After your shirt is all ironed hang them on to a hanger and button the collar to preserve the wrinkle free status especially the necktie region. Keep doing the same for the remaining shirts when ironing in batch. The second step was all a 90 second step which gets even lower in case of an shirt wore with a jacket where in you can ignore the backside and sleeve section of your shirt.
Tips and Warning
- Hangers are the best way to preserve the wrinkle free nature of the ironed fabric instead of folding them, which not only saves you a lots of time but also makes it easier in terms of managing and accessibility
- Make sure to read the care label of the shirt before going for ironing to avoid damage to the fabric, usually 3 dots on the iron figure would indicate high heat while one dot would indicate low heat.
Art of Ironing Dress Shirts
- While ironing your shirt make sure to keep a hold of the other end of the shirt opposite to the direction of your ironing to have a smooth ironing on your shirts and also use a good stain and heat resistant ironing table for smooth workout.
- To add more body or manliness into your shirt use starch to make them more crispier which works great on cotton, jeans and linen products.
